L'intervento sociale in generale e la progettazione in particolare presuppongono che i laureati acquisiscano capacità di conoscere ed interpretare i fenomeni sociali al fine di individuare il bisogno e conseguentemente pianificare e progettare interventi attraverso la messa in rete delle risorse esistenti e l'attivazione di nuove risorse. Da qui l'interdisciplinarietà che connota il corso e fa sì che le conoscenze che ne costituiscono il nucleo fondante vengano acquisite attraverso gli insegnamenti appartenenti agli ambiti disciplinari sociologico e di servizio sociale, economico e statistico, giuridico e psico-pedagogico.
L'acquisizione di tali capacitĂ viene verificata attraverso prove di accertamento, intermedie e/o finali, scritte e/o orali, degli insegnamenti e delle attivitĂ integrative nei quali si articola il piano di studi, oltre, naturalmente, alla prova finale.
II - CapacitĂ di applicare conoscenza e comprensione:
La sensibilità dei professionisti che il corso di laurea magistrale intende formare si deve necessariamente costruire su una abitudine riflessiva sulle modalità di applicazione della metodologia professionale propria ed di altri. Essi devono essere capaci di collocarsi ad un livello di complessità superiore, indispensabile per ricostruire ed inquadrare l'azione e le strategie professionali dei colleghi, anche nella funzione di case manager. Questa capacità non può che derivare da un'abitudine all'analisi critica molto concreta, applicata agli interventi. Capacità che meglio potranno essere sviluppate grazie all'attività didattica e di didattica integrativa (seminari di approfondimento, attività di tirocinio indiretto), all'interno del corso di laurea magistrale, di professionisti con esperienza pluriennale nella progettazione delle politiche sociali (ivi compresa la progettazione europea) ed educative, che sono in grado di accompagnare gli studenti della classe nell'acquisizione degli strumenti teorico-pratici di individuazione dei fabbisogni ed elaborazione delle soluzioni progettuali adeguate.
In particolare, il laureato magistrale deve essere in grado di progettare e coordinare ricerche in molteplici ambiti del sociale ed educativi; deve essere in grado di analizzare e leggere i problemi sociali in piena autonomia di giudizio, attraverso l'applicazione di metodi specifici di ricerca, ovvero attraverso la verifica empirica delle proprie ipotesi di partenza; coordinare e progettare i servizi socio sanitari ed i servizi educativi sul territorio; progettare programmi di informazione, sensibilizzazione e prevenzione con riferimento alle diverse forme del disagio psico-sociale; progettare e programmare servizi per la collettivitĂ in funzione delle esigenze del territorio.
La verifica della acquisizione dell'autonomia di giudizio avviene attraverso la valutazione degli insegnamenti del piano di studio individuale dello studente, e la valutazione del grado di autonomia e capacitĂ di lavorare, anche in gruppo, durante le attivitĂ seminariali, il tirocinio ed il lavoro di preparazione della prova finale.
I laureati vengono accompagnati in un percorso di apprendimento nel quale i rimandi interdisciplinari intorno alle tematiche che costituiscono lo scheletro del percorso di formazione assumono un ruolo centrale.
Le capacitĂ di apprendimento sono conseguite nel percorso di studio nel suo complesso, con riguardo in particolare allo studio individuale previsto, alla preparazione di progetti individuali, all'esperienza di stage e tirocinio e all'attivitĂ svolta per la redazione della prova finale e del progetto. La capacitĂ di apprendimento viene valutata attraverso forme di verifica continue durante le attivitĂ formative, richiedendo la presentazione di dati reperiti autonomamente, mediante attivitĂ di tutorato nello svolgimento di progetti individuali di stage e di tirocinio, e mediante la valutizione della capacitĂ di auto-apprendimento maturata durante lo svolgimento dell'attivitĂ relativa alla prova finale.

laurea magistrale in PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT OF SOCIAL WORK AND EDUCATIONAL SERVICES
Educational Goals:
This training pathway invests on the complexity of the interdisciplinary approach, not restricting itself to the usual closeness between professional subjects and social/pedagogical disciplines, but rather establishing, since the first year of study, the comparison between the more practical subjects linked to sociology and pedagogy and the more theoretical but effective ones concerning politics, in order to pay more attention to local government entities and the intergovernmental relations.
The common pathway, in the first year of study, provides, as a matter of fact, the in-depth analysis of pedagogical topics, through teaching modules that provide the acquisition of the educational research methods and the in-depth study of special pedagogy, as well as social topics, which is accompanied by the knowledge of the laws regulating the planning and management of social work and educational services. The pathway is completed by some optional teaching modules that allow graduates to improve their demo-ethno-anthropological knowledge or to acquire the fundamentals of corporate financial management.
In the second year, the course of study is divided into two curricula: the Specialist social worker – (acknowledged in the Section A of the Professional Register of Social workers), and the Expert in Social Policy and Planning.
Besides the ability to work with people who apply to social services, graduates must acquire the necessary professional skills, in order to be able able to plan, organise and manage health and social care services, working groups and coordinate the services provided and the staff employed in these services; They must gain the necessary competencies to properly use the cognitive and communication strategies and the interindividual patterns with professional interlocutors and users; furthermore, they have to develop their own organisational skills with respect to microsystems, regulation of educational interventions and change management. Moreover, the training pathway aims at increasing the professional competencies in the field of research and control, in order to safeguard health and environment.
For this reason the two training pathways, although dealing with different contents, provide the acquisition of management tools – focusing on the design and assessment of social services (Curriculum: Specialist Social Worker) and on the management of training activities (Curriculum: Expert in Social Policy and Planning); both curricula provide graduates also with the tools to organise human and economic resources, implying a common basis, and improve the tools to plan and organise social policies, essential requirement for the community planning. Furthermore, some important pedagogical topics are carefully dealt with, allowing graduates to acquire advanced tools in planning interventions for social inclusion and cooperation.
The skills gained and developed during the course of study will be employed in the sectors of healthcare, education, family care, immigration, social exclusion and marginality. Exactly for these reasons, graduates must have an advanced knowledge of the organisation and management of social and educational services.
They must also be able to refer to the organisational, social and legal frameworks, within which intervention plans have to be developed.
To this end, Master’s graduates must also acquire the ability to “read” the territory, namely the ability to know and interpret the social phenomena and their evolution, in order to develop the necessary skills to experiment new programmes and methods of approach, not only with the users of the social services and their often hidden needs, but also with realities expressing different training and learning needs.
The acquisition of such abilities will give graduates the possibility to improve and develop the realisation of a network with already existing resources and resources that can be still activated, covering innovative pathways, already present in other European realities and experiences.
The verification of the learning objectives is based on intermediate and/or final tests (written and/or oral) of the courses and the integrated activities provided by the study plan and, of course, the final exam.
Knowledge and understanding:
Social intervention in general and intervention planning in particular imply that graduates acquire the ability to know and interpret the social phenomena, with the aim of identifying the needs and, as a consequence, planning and organising interventions, by means of the already existing resource network and the activation of new resources. The interdisciplinarity that characterise the course of study allows the acquisition of core knowledge in the areas of sociology and social work, economics, statistics, law and psychopedagogy.
The acquisition of these abilities is verified through intermediate and/or final tests (written and/or oral) of the courses and the integrated activities provided by the study plan and, of course, through the final exam.
Applying knowledge and understanding:
Master’s graduates will acquire methodological, organisational and juridical knowledge related to health and social care services, as well as a knowledge of the most significant forms of psychological distress and social unease. This knowledge will allow them to achieve very good analysis and interpretation skills of social phenomena; an advanced knowledge of the economic, historical and political framework, in relation to specific sectors of applied social and educational analysis, interpretation of the needs of the territory and design of specific interventions. The ability to apply the acquired knowledge will be verifies through intermediate and/or final tests and through integrated activities providing the practical application of the acquired theoretical knowledge, besides the final exam that must be combined with an intervention project which must deal with the themes and topics concerning the social services according to the Law n. 328/2000.
Making Judgements:
The professionals trained by this Master’s degree course necessarily build their sensitivity on the reflections made on how their own (and others’) professional methodologies are applied. They must be able to place themselves at a higher level of complexity, which is essential for reconstructing and identifying the actions and professional strategies of colleagues, also in their function of case managers. This ability can only derive from the habit to critically analyse phenomena and events, and from the concrete application of it to interventions; abilities that will be better developed thanks to the activities of integrated didactics (in-depth seminars, indirect internship activities), within the master’s degree course, interventions of experienced professionals in the planning of educational and social policies (including european planning), who are able to support students in the acquisition of the theoretical-practical tools aimed at identifying the social needs and the adequate community planning solutions.
In particular, master’s graduates must be able to design, coordinate and conduct researches in the various sectors of social and educational services; they must be able to analyse and interpret the social problems in full autonomy, by applying specific research methods, that is through the empirical verification of their initial hypothesis; they must be able to coordinate and design the health and social care services and the educational services in the territory; design information, sensitisation and prevention programs, referring to the various forms of psychoocial unease; design and plan services for the collectivity, in relation to the needs of the territory.
Students’ ability to make autonomous judgements is assessed through the evaluation of their choices in respect of their individual study plan, along with the ability to work autonomously, also in a group; this ability is furthermore assessed during seminars, internships and the preparation of the final exams.
Communication skills:
The ability to communicate with different interlocutors, belonging to the institutions, the third sector, voluntary organisations and civil society, is crucial for building networks and working for projects: this remains a reference point of the course of study (in both its training pathways), also on the basis of its old tradition, but also the communication to the population of the oucomes regarding the impact of social interventions is an important and necessary capability for all the workers involved in planning and managing social policies.
Internships, which have always been a strength of this course of study, in both pathways give students the possibility to measure themselves with the social reality, meant not only as the people addressing to social workers, but also as coexistence and collaboration of different subjects (both public and private) involved in the planning and management of educational and social policies.
The acquisition of the communication skills is assessed through the students’ ability to express themselves and discuss on different kinds of topic during the training activities, seminars and the final exam itself, as well as through the assessment of reports and documents prepared within the single activities providing for them.

Graduates go through a learning pathway, in which the interdisciplinary references to the fundamental themes of the training pathway play a central role.
The learning skills are gained during the whole course of study, with special regard to the individual study, the preparation of individual projects, the work experiences through stages and internships and the activities carried out in view of the final exam. The learning skills assessment occur through continuous tests and verification during the training activities, requiring the presentation of data collected autonomously, through tutor-time activities carried out during the realisation of individual projects related to stages and internships, and through the assessment of self directed learning skills developed during the preparation of the final exam.

- Specialist social worker: graduates will be able to attend functions of organisation, management and counseling to people, organisations and institutions in the field of social services and policies in the following contexts: relational dynamics, human resources management, organisation of resources and facilities and financial management of institutions, services and organisations, as well as design of educational and social policies. Master’s graduates will furthermore carry out professional activities, also as freelancers, in the areas of prevention-promotion, management and research, as well as support activities and processes of social inclusion and cohesion.
- Expert in Social Policy and Planning: graduates will be able to attend functions of design, organisation, management and counseling in the field of educational and social policies, from early childhood to the adult age, also in relation to disadvantaged groups of population.
